WASHINGTON -- New Texas Senator Ted Cruz is getting into the national gun debate by firing back at Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel after Emanuel put pressure on banks to stop lending money to gun makers.
Last week, Emanuel asked Bank of America and TD Bank Group to stop lending money to gun makers who don't support new gun restrictions. Tuesday, Senator Cruz wrote a letter to those banks, both of which do considerable business in Chicago, asking them to bring their business to Texas.
Cruz also wrote to gun makers, saying if they can't get money from banks in Chicago, there are plenty of banks in Texas that will lend them money.
