WASHINGTON -- New Texas Senator Ted Cruz is getting into the national gun debate by firing back at Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel after Emanuel put pressure on banks to stop lending money to gun makers.

Last week, Emanuel asked Bank of America and TD Bank Group to stop lending money to gun makers who don't support new gun restrictions. Tuesday, Senator Cruz wrote a letter to those banks, both of which do considerable business in Chicago, asking them to bring their business to Texas.

Cruz also wrote to gun makers, saying if they can't get money from banks in Chicago, there are plenty of banks in Texas that will lend them money.

My wife and I voted Ted Cruz in the primary and the general, and this is why. He's conservative, intelligent, and hilariously unwielding to the establishment nonsense. Here's Rahm Emanuel trying to pull a Chicago thug drive by on the banks & gun manufacturers, and Cruz just made Rahm look like an idiot by pointing out they don't have to give Chicago any business whatsoever. The reality is the entire state of Illinois is on the verge of collapse.

Bigman...the 19 guys killed 3,000 people because they loathed the fact that their country and other islamic nations were (are) threatened and/or opressed by guys with firearms, namely Israel helped by America. SO the guns come into the picture at that point. The 19 guys used domestic airliners because, ironically, it would be very hard for them to get enough guns in the US to obtain the same results. And to all the crybabies...the government is trying to keep some control on ASSAULT RIFLES AND HIGH CAPACITY AMMO CLIPS. They don't care about your hunting rifles or your handguns. Get a grip.

@Luigi. Killing machines? One can't really be that naive. Guns are nothing but tools. As far as your statement about the majority of Texans being against gun manufacturers moving to our state, you are 100% wrong. The vast majority of Texans support the 2nd amendment, and the right to keep and bear arms. Only the typically "blue" areas, Dallas, Houston, Austin etc are of the pacifist lifestyle. The vast majority of the state support freedom and defense of our rights. You progressive, liberal, kneejerk feelgood loons are the problem, not guns.

Go get em, Ted. They will be able to manufacture guns cheaper in Texas than up North anyway.
