SAN ANTONIO -- Police are looking for suspects after a brutal attack on the Southwest Side.

Investigators say the security guard was standing outside the Taquería Mexico Mexican Restaurant on Somerset Road, near Southwest Military Drive, when two people pulled up in truck around 1:15 a.m. Thursday. The passenger in the truck got out and started beating the guard with what may have been a pipe. The passenger went through the guard's pockets and took his wallet. The driver and the passenger then sped off in the truck.

Restaurant workers found the guard inside his truck about an hour and a half later. The workers at first thought he was sleeping but then realized he was badly injured. They then called 911.

The guard, who is in his 50's, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center and is now in critical but stable condition.

If you have any information about this attack, please immediately contact Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP (7867), submit a tip online, or text a tip by texting "Tip 127 plus your tip" to CRIMES (274637).

Many of those security guards have no option but to work alone. Very few even carry weapons so the ones that only carry a set of handcuffs are easy prey. Those cowards should have threaten a San Antonio Police Officer with the pipe just to see what would happen to them.

I don't know about this guard, but I have seen many that get too relaxed and let down their guard.
