SAN ANTONIO -- A second two-alarm downtown blaze is now under control after a fire broke out a business next to the World Trade high-rise building, officials said.
The fire broke out at close to 3 a.m. Thursday in the 500 block of East Houston Street, about seven hours after another Downtown blaze sparked Wednesday at an abandoned building on Broadway. Authorities tell News 4 San Antonio they do not believe the two downtown fires are connected.
Fire officials say the fire on East Houston Street started on the first floor and quickly spread. Patrons of the nearby Indigo Hotel were evacuated, but were later allowed to return. About 70 firefighters were called out to the scene. A second-alarm was declared as a precaution.
The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental. Investigators believe an electrical short is to blame.
Fire department officials were unable to say if the building was occupied, but did say many items were found inside.
No injuries were reported.
