SAN ANTONIO - A big group of Northside Independent School District employees are pulling double duty this first week of school. They are not only doing the job they were hired for but they also had to drive school buses.

The school district is hiring new bus drivers to fill an estimated 50 vacant slots, but those applicants are in the process of undergoing background checks and training. They are expected to take to the roads next week.

Pascual Gonzalez, N.I.S.D. Spokesperson said, “We had about 850 buses on the road today, what's different this year is that 50 of those buses were driven by support staff”.

All of them have a commercial driver’s license and are trained to drive a bus.

Gonzalez said the shortage of drivers came about because commercial drivers are being recruited by Eagle Ford Shale companies offering higher wages.

But if I take the job, I would have to wake up early. I won't be able to party on Sunday night either. :/

All right you complainers that say illegals are taking your jobs GO FOR IT!The school distric is not going to hire anybody without papers. It's the NORTHSIDE school district, probably close to your homes, the commute wouldn't be that bad. MONEY TALKS , BULLS**T WALKS.
