EAGLE PASS, Texas -- Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested a San Antonio woman wanted on a firearms-related charge.

Officials say 24-year-old Juanita Arteaga was taken into custody Tuesday at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry. After an officer referred Arteaga for a secondary examination, it was discovered she had an outstanding federal warrant from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and was sought by the U.S. Marshals Service for false statement during the purchase of a firearm and aiding and abetting.

"Apprehending a fugitive wanted on a federal charge involving firearms underscores the vital role CBP officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry play in keeping our borders safe and secure," said Cynthia O. Rodriguez, Port Director, Eagle Pass.
