SAN ANTONIO - Police say a 15 year old is accused killing a 24 year old man. The shooting happened at a North Side apartment complex. Police say it all started when three teenagers and James Whitley, 24, got into an argument at the Canlen West Apartments Monday night on West Avenue.

We're told the argument got out of hand and gunfire was exchanged between the 15 year old and Whitley.

The 15 year old was grazed by a bullet and it expected to recover. Whitley was shot in the left hip and later died at University Hospital.

Tuesday afternoon the 15 year old was charged with murder.

Valerie Aguirre, who is Whitley's wife, rushed to her husband's side after hearing shots fired.

"He was like, 'I got shot! I got shot!' Calm down. Just hold my hand," said Aguirre.

Aguirre also said Whitley told her, "I love you and tell the kids I love them."

Police are still looking into why the argument started.

We're told the other teenagers could still face charges.

Funeral arrangements are still pending for Whitley.

Yall don't know jack. I live right here closeby. Only one shot was fired, I know this for a fact. Kid ran off too blanco and Dresden with his little buddies. His wound most likely self inflicted so he could have a good cover story. Stupid wannabe gangster kid did the crime and should man up and take the punishment. He was admittedly carrying a gun. What do you think his intentions were? Robbery! That's what!

How is this not self defense. Somebody fires a gun at you and you fire back. Are you supposed to just stand there and keep getting fired at? I don't get it.

I feel REALLY sorry for the children and the unborn child of this guy. Thet have absolutely NO future, because their mom will just hook up with another drug thug who will eventually end up hurting or killing one of her babies. SAD SAD SITUATION!

This town IS the wild west and probably worse. In the 19th century, one had to do something really stupid to get shot and alcohol played a big part. Now with a flood of illegals, lack of education, absent parents, drugs, an incredible reproduction rate... Something has to give.

Other news media state Whitley was selling drugs and the deal went wrong. His wife states, "Now I'm left with two kids, one on the way. I just don't know why," REALLY, as if she somehow didn't know her husband was selling drugs. She was married to a loser and should have walked away from him but, procreated yet again. When you chose to live a life of crime, only bad things can happen and Whitley paid the ultimate price for his stupidity. I have no sympathy for him or the wife but, his children that had no choice in being brought into this world will pay the price. Sad that this idiot couldn't put his children first and think of the consequences of his actions!

Let me guess they are both great kids. What the family will say. They are both great carrying around guns. Sorry the kids lost there father but you want to act and be a thug there you go. Way to be a great role father for your kids. 15yrs old and carrying a gun. So glad I grew up in a small town.

my prayers go out to James and his family. He may have made some bad choices but he is still a human being who lost his life and now his children have to grow up with out a father. God Bless his wife and children. RIP James!
