SAN ANTONIO - News 4 WOAI has confirmed that a veteran San Antonio police officer has been suspended indefinitely.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, this isn't the first time - or even the tenth. According to the paper, Lee Rakun is now suspended indefinitely following allegations he made racial slurs and threatened to fire an off-duty constable working in Alamo Heights. The paper goes on to say Rakun has been suspended 14 times before this most recent suspension.

Our archives show Rakun was arrested in Kendall County back in 2004 and 2005 for allegedly making harassing phone calls and beating up his wife.

Apparently the police operate under a 15 strike rule

Does not look good for the Chief! To the remainder of the police officers, "don't do it",maintain your high values. Hopefully the elected city officials will contract a police leader to instill his leadership traits and values to his command and not just be a political peg.

Got a ticket from a rookie, frail, and blonde in a mustang for an illegal change. Traveling 37 south, I tried to pass a loser in the left lane on a cell phone going 55 in a 65...again in the left lane. Signalled to move to the middle lane to pass said loser on the right, and moved back into the left lane. According to Ms. Policeman, I sped up to 70 while passing, but failed to signal when I moved back to left lane. Didn't get ticketed for the 70mph, just the lane change. Asked Ms. Policewomen why no ticket for the loser on the phone, who is slowing down the left lane at 55 in a 65...they are at least doing the minimum speed. What kind of crap is that? Shortly after, watched a guy in a 250 truck cut across three lanes on 37 north to take Hildebrand. No signal light and even went over the stripes before the railing. Funny thing is, an "observant" policeman was in the right lane after merging from St. Mary's onto 37 north, and did nothing. Left the Dave Koz show at the Majestic on Friday. Four bike cops were sitting at Starbucks following the end of the show. Asked them "who's watching the streets", one replied...not us. How many times do we see our policemen on the phone, texting, or surfing the internet on their computers. How can we expect them to enforce the law, when they break it all the time. How about the former sergeant who was the PR guy for SAPD? He killed a woman, while on a cell phone, after drinking at a restaurant. No blood draw. No breath test. He even left the scene. He's now working for a private firm making a bank. But as a tax paying citizen, we're subject to road blocks, mandatory blood draws, quotas, speed traps, etc., etc. But those who are tasked to "protect and serve", minipulate, intimidate, and abuse those who pay their salaries. Don't count on them when you need them. They are just in it for the ego, not the responsibility.

Sadly, Officer Rakun’s attorney Karl Brehm will be able to have him restated once again due to the fact that SAPD Chief William McManus and SAPD command staff have been helping corrupt City officials/employees hide decades of public/police corruption including the theft/misuse of HUD funds. Everything McManus and his upper-level officers touch is tainted making this and other “investigations” suspect. Proof of McManus’s /SAPD’s involvement in the ongoing conspiracy has been forwarded to Rakun, Brehm, Helle, CLEAT, etc. City/County officials have been warned that numerous cases/convictions will be reviewed/overturned due to McManus’s actions BUT look away. http://www.sanantoniolightning.com/enemy10.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wVcy82mt7A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LbPQNVotVA

He should've been fired when he beat his wife up. Fifteen times only shows his level of escalation. What's even more frightening is this guy has a weapon at his disposal that he can use on anyone and claim that he "feared for his life" and after 15 times, I'll bet the sapd would've covered his back.
