SAN ANTONIO -- A police officer is on administrative leave as the department investigates an assault claim.

SAPD Patrol Officer Michael Cooper is free on bond Monday after being arrested over the weekend.

News 4 WOAI obtained his arrest affidavit and found the 51-year-old is accused of choking his 20-year-old wife and punching her in the chest during an argument.

Cooper is a 24-year-veteran of the force.
