SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio Police officer was arrested and is accused of sexually assaulting a transgender woman.

The transgender woman claims officer Craig Nash picked her up just south of Downtown early Thursday morning, handcuffed her, and told her to lay down in the back seat of a patrol car. She told investigators Nash then drove to a nearby location, un-handcuffed her, and sexually assaulted her.

The alleged victim said after the assault, Nash dropped her off at a nearby school. She then took a bus to a police station to report the assault. According to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by News 4 WOAI, the alleged victim told officers Nash "wasn't going to get away with this."

Police arrested Nash after the alleged victim identified him in a photo line-up, and police linked his patrol car to the alleged scene using a GPS tracking system.

Nash was charged with sexual assault and official oppression. He has been placed on adminstrative leave pending the outcome of both the criminal and administrative investigations.

Nash has been with the San Antonio Police Department for six and a half years.

Psychologically, this does not surprise me one bit if you think about the motivation behind why these types of people became police officers to begin with. If you were to give them all evaluations, I think you might find a large percentage of them have issues with height, anger, control, esteem, sexuality, etc. Just basic profiling in my opinion.

It amazes me that otherwise learned people, can come across as cave dwellers simply because of their bigotry. Yes folks I said "bigotry", the same bigotry that justified owning people in this country until the 1860's.If you want to subscribe to such anti-evolved intellect then go back into a nice dark cave and eat some raw meat. You have no place with civilized humans. A civilized human typically has "true" Christian values such as God loves us all. We all have sinned and come short of the glory.. Cast not the first stone... Yet these "moral" individuals come just short of being sympathetic to this monster in uniform. I submit to my "moral" brethren that you look deeply into your first mirror, and decide "am I doing WWJD, or what my own prejudices guide me to do"? Remember Jesus didn't always hang out with the pure of the pure. Unlike, you know the type, the ones that think they are the only ones that will make it to heaven. I sit and wonder, hmmm who is it that will truly make it to heaven? Funny, I am sure many of you have justified yourselves to the point that nothing I've written will mean squat.

Ladies, Gentlemen, please stop and think. The Carpenter, The Mountain Sitter, The Bull Rider, The Mediator, they all spoke of ONE LAW, one word/4 letters. The new Law of Deity. An honorable rule for living that respects all faiths. Paul, Peter, and John failed to practice the law. The Clerics and Imam have twisted the Word away from Truth. And I expect to hear a great deal about that, but they can't defend their actions except by making claims they can't prove. And on and on, the followers of the Prophets of all Faiths have each one made a tiny change in the Word of their Faith until you get to today, and a few are trying to return the Word back to it's original statement. The Law? LOVE. How can you claim to be Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu, or any other, and not be willing to BE and LIVE the Law? This does tie to the current work; these are people, human beings, who need you to learn to tolerate, if not be willing to help them to live the best lives they can have. Granted, there are some who give cause for angry response, I've known a few, but does this justify murder, assault, beatings, or rape? Having been a victim, and no, I did nothing to warrant it except exist, I can say with certainty that the answer is NO. The transsexual and the intersexed get the short end of it all, worse than most because we cannot be pigeonholed. Please stop the hate, learn about us, you might be surprised at what you learn. Most of us go to church or temple, hold responsible positions, rise families, love, shop in your stores. Some of us search for help for problems other than our sex. We catch colds like you, we have heart attacks like you, we even laugh and cry, just like you do. A child once said, "I might be big eared and fat, but I'm still loved. God don't make no junk". Please stop thinking of us as junk, we exist for a reason, and that reason is sometimes hard to see or understand. May Deity bless you, and help you to learn to love.

Sorry, the last sentence of my last comment should have read: "And too, the Associated Press, New York Times, Washington Post, and GLAAD media styleguides all pretty much unequivocally state that when a reporter is in doubt on the proper way to refer to the gender of an individual, then one asks the individual how the individual identifies. If a reporter can't ask the people what their gender identities are, then one uses how the people present to indicate gender."

Well Willis, there is more than one styleguide -- there is more than one media reference guide, even though you appear to believe is one reference guide. Willis, Willis, you certainly don't have to follow the journalism standards because you aren't in journalism, but WOAI is part of the main stream media, and should -- as a mainstream media outlet -- stick to standard guidelines if they want to be seen as a reputable media outlet. Perhaps, Willis, this does matter to WOAI -- you may have noticed the text for this story has been updated. The "transgender man" that was in the original headline for this piece has been replaced with "transgender woman," and the pronouns used throughout the piece for the victim have been updated from the originally used male pronouns to the use of female pronouns. WOAI apparently recognized their article wasn't in accordance with various standard journalism guidelines, and then changed their article to reflect journalistic styleguide consensus. And from the perspective of WOAI having a copy of at least the Associated Press Styleguide, I guarantee you WOAI already had a copy of it in the office -- it's literally considered to be the definitive Bible of journalism standards. As to your comments about terminology, the GLAAD Media Reference Guide is online, and would tell someone as bright as you that it's inappropriate in journalism to refer to trans people "deviants," "homosexuals," and "transvestites." And too, the Associated Press, New York Times, Washington Post, and GLAAD media styleguides all pretty much unequivocally state that when a reporter is in doubt on the proper way to refer to the gender of an individual, then one asks the individual how the individual identifies. If a reporter can't ask the people what their gender identities are, then one uses how the people how they identify.

That man looks like a wild aborigine who might run up and stab you with a knife. I believe God has turned from him. We best keep him in jail for a while. Also, let's lock up the transmission mechanic he raped. I think he might just be a pervert himself. Why was he all dressed up like a girl? This is pretty disgusting stuff and I don't know what to think. Was this man out trying to rape a girl and got unlucky or was he trying to have sex with boys? I know one thing- God won't have any part of it, no siree.

Autumn59-seems to me if a person doesn't know what gender they are then "it" fits. i call people the dreaded "N" and "F" words basically every day so what's your point. i hate rapist and if this policemen is guilty he should just kill himself

This is fantastic! Autumn has revealed that there is actually a manual for politically correct speech. I urge the writers at woai to obtain a copy so that there will be no more problems with referring to transvestite perverts as transgender women when they should be transgender men. A few questions- Is it really OK to call these deviants "trans people"? What if they want to be called "gays in need of surgery" or "Homosexual-Americans"? What if they are old fashioned and want to be called "Drag Queens"? Should they still be called sodomites? These are complex questions.

Autumn59 - 3/1/2010 3:22 PM
You realize of course, joicat, that "it" for trans people is an pejorative on the order of the n-word and f****t, right? It seems rather dehumanizing for the victim of an alleged sexual assault by an on-duty police officer to be referred to as "it" in the discussion thread for the article -- as if being a victim of a sexual assault wasn't dehumanizing enough. Certainly we seem to be living in a less and less human and humane world, joicat, doesn't it?
