SAN ANTONIO -- City police are investigating a complaint from a woman who says she was sexually assaulted by a uniformed officer who was on duty. San Antonio police say the woman told them the alleged incident happened last Friday night on the East Side.

A spokeswoman for the police department tells News 4 WOAI that the 46-year-old woman who filed the complaint had a couple of different versions of the events. One is that she was sexually assaulted in a wooded area; the other is that she was sexually assaulted in a patrol car.

Police Chief Bill McManus says, "The San Antonio Police Department does not and will not tolerate such conduct, so we'll wait to see how this plays out and take whatever action necessary."

McManus says the investigation has been turned over to the Internal Affairs Department and the department is "moving very swiftly to complete that investigation."

SAPD is not releasing the officer's name because he is not facing any charges at this time and there isn't a warrant for his arrest. The officer is a four-year veteran of the force and he is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

WOW, interseting to see how many people actually hate police officers. With that being said, I have to say that ALL police officers were hired from one race.....THE HUMAN RACE. And with that, we have good officers and we have bad ones. Some of you who type your opinions are good, and others are bad. That is just how it is, plain and simple. But to read some of the bantering and disgust some people have for the persons (both men and women) who go out there every day and do their best to protect others, is just plain sad. I will again state, if you don't know the whole story or have no inside track, then you should remain objective until the investigation is concluded. And just for the record, most of us do not use our authority until we are given a reason to use it.

Well said Vyper. Not every police officer is bad, not every doctor is bad, not every attorney is bad...there are people out there doing much worse and until this investigation is over, none of us should really speculate.

OK, so it seems that some of you have already crucified the officer. If you werent there or have no inside track on the incident, you really shouldn't assume. Once again, people automatically assume the officer is wrong. There are many times officers have been falsely accussed of something, and have been vindicated by a good, objective investigation. Just like some of you would not like to be convicted without due process, please afford the same courtesy for others. As far as I'm concerned, Richieb, well just chill and think before you start typing. All your doing is embarrassing yourself. Not every cop is the enemy, unless of course, you've done something the may make them look your direction.

Maybe she was assaulted in a car that was in a wooded area.
