UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas -- Lockdowns at four Judson ISD schools were lifted after a SWAT standoff at a home in Universal City ended peacefully.
Coronado Village Elementary School, Kitty Hawk Middle School, Salinas Elementary, and Judson Early College Academy had been placed on lockdown after reports said a man with a gun had barricaded himself inside a home on Clear Oak in the Meadow Oaks subdivision.
Just after 3:00 p.m., Judson ISD officials said SWAT was denying parents access to pick up their children. At that time, parents already at the schools were being asked to stay inside their vehicles, and that officers would be searching those vehicles and checking ID's when they had time. Around 3:20 p.m., Judson ISD officials said the lockdowns had been lifted, and parents would be allowed to pick up their children.
Universal City Police said the man was threatening to commit suicide and had access to guns inside the home. They said it was protocol to lock down any nearby schools. Officials were able to convince the man to surrender.
