SAN ANTONIO - The fastest highway in the U.S. is now open.

The grand opening of Highway 130 took place Wednesday morning. Drivers can now legally drive up to 85 miles per hour on the stretch between Seguin and Austin. That's led to predictions that drivers used to going faster than speed limits will routinely hit 100 mph.

State officials say they're not worried about increased danger. They say traffic deaths are down on some West Texas highways where the speed limits were raised.

Drivers can get a free test drive for the first two weeks. After that, they'll have to pay.

This is a DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. Texas drivers are already driving at higher than legal limits with wild abandon and with no regard to their safety or the safety of others. And watch out for the increase in ROAD RAGE, which is increasing daily all over Texas. I can not believe this stupidity!!!!! Now no-one can wonder why I no longer own or drive a vehicle. ABSURDITY in TEXAS,,,,,

some dont know how to drive at regular speeds without crashing, imagine how this is going to turn out, some drunk idiots are going to get on there to see how fast they can go, and take innocent people out with them.

Your windshields get cracked more easily at those high speed, the force of some rock flung by a construction truck is a lot stonger at 70+ than at 60, I learned the hard way.

This is going to be like a Blackpool Tower ballroom with the only couple on the dance floor throwing themselves about with the reckless abandon of a night watchman with arthritis

Since it's a foreign owned toll road, if someone rolls their vehicle or some other speed related crash occurs, I say sue the hell out of the owners.
