SAN ANTONIO -- A 16-year-old girl was killed late Wednesday after police say she barreled into a field and crashed into a tree.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the girl’s identity as Andrea Reyna.

Aubrey Chancellor, a spokeswoman for the Northeast Independent School District, said the teen attended Roosevelt High School.

"She was a junior enrolled in the data program at Roosevelt," Chancellor said. "She was a fantastic student and a member of the softball team."

Police tell News 4 San Antonio that the girl was traveling southbound on Crosswinds Way and was approaching Interstate 35 when she lost control of her vehicle while driving on a curve.
The accident occurred around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say she died upon impact. Police are investigating if speed or slick roads may have been a factor in the crash.

I drive this road every single day, and have for years. It's not dangerous when you pay attention, abide by the post speed limit, and observe the posted warning signs. If you're doing 40 MPH, you're almost ran over because the vast majority of drivers on that road do 50+, stay in the left lane, then try to cut over to the right lane in the curve to turn right on to southbound 35. It is tragic when people die, but people need to take responsibility and be ready to pay for their actions.

Ok, for the peole that are judging her and her parents. Lighten up and show respect. She lost her life to a mistake, people mke mistakes all the time. I kno her and her family, and will put it out there that those of you who are judging obviously dont know them at all. So unless you are paying respect to the family keep your judgemental comments to yourself. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who lost a love one and realize blamig her parents is the last thing they want to hear. They are probably being hard on their selves as is. Be grateful that you are blessed and that you and your loved ones are safe. This 16 year old girl just lost her life, and her family just her, who cares how it happen, just show respect and send your prayers. Sending my love and prayers to the Reyna family!!!!

For those of you calling for banning teenage drivers, lets go a step further and ban all the other idot drivers that are 2 to 3 times older than this teenager. You see it every day. that should remove half the drivers on the road. So, don't rag on this kid that lost her life. You don't know the facts of what caused the wreck and it may not have been her fault. I do realize, reading most of the responses on these blogs that there are a lot of perfect people out there and they know exactly how everyone should live.

Another teen killed while driving. Unfortunately, she was probably looking at her phone, as they all do. It does not matter how much we talk to our kids about safe driving, THEY ARE TEENS who think "nothing will happen to me", "I am a careful driver." Well careful or not, they are all inexperienced and I think the driving age should be increased to 18. That might not make too much of a difference, but it couldn't hurt. Rest in peace little one, and my thoughts and prayers to her family.

I must agree with lovinlife... It's not the road that is dangerous. The fault and danger lays solely with the boneheads who drive it dangerously. No insults intended, but that's a fact!

Its time the govenment 'regulate' & ban teenage drivers! ! ! Stop the killing. This would be a typical Liberal leftist rant since their belief is: 'if we can save one life, it should be banned'. Sound familar? Can we say 'gun control'...mmm

maryk I travel that road almost every day and it is dangerous to those of us who pay attention driving thru there. The speed limit is 40mph thru there. How much lower could it get? And I guarantee that won't make people go slower anyway. People need to pay attention when driving. Most of the problem has to do with the idiots that wait till the last minute to get in the right hand lane to jump on the access road at the last minute. My husband and I have almost been hit several times by these idiots that try to turn right in front of you from the left lane.

She was an inexperence driver, well dug!!! she was only 16. Why would her parents allow her to drive so late on a school night. As one of many teachers @ Roosevelt High School she will be missed dearly. She was a softball player and will be missed by her coaches and fellow softball teammates.

@Baldsarge, make that 4. You can't overlook the 19 yr old jogger killed by a drunk driver.

I did an interview on camera about a month ago in this VERY spot! I emphasized howdangerous this road is!! This time it has claimed the life of a young woman! When are they going to do something? At least lower the speed limit, get the street lights back on, and patrol this road!!!
