SAN ANTONIO – It took emergency workers more than three hours to pull a small black car from an area of Cibolo Creek near Specht Road Thursday. Inside that Acura, was the body of a man workers from The County Line restaurant are identifying as the business’s owner Randy Goss.

“The guy was a lover of music, and used to mingle with the people all the time,” said musician David Saldana of the restaurant owner. Saldana’s band, The Crayolas, performed at The County Line on I-10 numerous times.

Restaurant workers say they were concerned and told Goss, 55, not to drive home from work in heavy rain Wednesday night. They say he insisted on driving in the dangerous weather. Goss never made it home.

Workers say a couple of managers spotted Goss’s car partially under water as they were retracing his route home along Specht Road.

A spokeswoman for Bexar County, Laura Jesse, tells News 4 WOAI there were no barricades shutting down Specht’s Road Wednesday night. She says, that evening Sheriff’s deputies requested crews place barricades at Blanco and Bulverde Roads near the Creek. She says when crews inspected the area of the Creek near Specht Road, it seemed passable.

Jesse says barricades did not go up in the area where Goss’s Acura was found until 8:45 Thursday morning. Investigators say that’s about an hour and 45 minutes before the small car was spotted in the water.

“It’s very difficult for us to determine whether he was swept away,” said Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Ino Badillo. “There were no skid marks that we could see at this time, so it’s very difficult for us to kind of guesstimate what happened.”

News 4 WOAI did speak with members of the Goss family. They did not want to comment about the tragedy, but told us they would release a statement through a public relations firm.
