BLUE ASH, Ohio (CNN) -- A reformed thief is helping to spread the holiday cheer this Christmas.

A Kmart in Ohio recently received a $1,000 money order. The man who sent it said he stole $200 worth of merchandise from the store 30 years ago. His letter stated that he recently found religion and decided to fix his mistakes.

The store accepted his apology and money and says the donation will go to families in need.
