SAN ANTONIO -- The Navarro Academy Downtown was placed on lockdown just before noon Tuesday after a student stabbed another student and fled the campus, a district spokesperson reported.

The school is in the 600 block of Pecos La Trinidad near IH-35 and Cesar Chavez. According to Leslie Price with San Antonio Independent School District, a student sustained puncture wounds from a sharp object by another student who fled the campus. The injured student was taken to University Hospital.

No other students were injured, and the campus was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

University of Texas San Antonio sent alerts to students at their Downtown campus notifying them of the incident and police presence in the area.
