DILLEY, Texas -- A local police department is down to just two officers after more than half the force resigned.
Police Chief Robert Garza resigned Tuesday night, saying his wife had accepted a job out of state and he was moving.
Mayor Pro Tem Ray Arranda says four police officers and two city workers also resigned after the city council voted to have Arranda and the mayor assume the responsibilities of the chief instead of having the police department handle them.
Arranda says Dilley still has two police officers and Frio County Sheriff's deputies to cover the area.
Dilley is 70 miles south of San Antonio.
