UNION CITY, Ohio -- A Union City, Ohio man was arrested Sunday morning after police said he stabbed a dog.
Officers were called to Smith's Auto Service on a report that a man was trying to kill a dog.
That's where officers found William Jerome Beanblossom coming from behind the business with his hands covered with blood and blood spattered on his pants.
Beanblossom said he was just "quieting up the dog."
The Golden Retriever mix named "CoCo" was taken by the Darke County Humane Society to a Greenville, Ohio veterinarian for treatment, but did not survive the knife attack.
Beanblossom, who police said was "highly" intoxicated at the time of his arrest, was taken to Wayne Hospital in Greenville to be treated for a dog bite.
He was then booked into the Darke County jail on a charge of injuring animals and criminal trespass.
