The only reason this guy turned himself in is because witnesses got a partial license plate.

Hmmm...in my humble opinion this is a tough one. Crosswalks are designed to help folks. If you don't use it and you get hit, WELL, I am sorry but you can't outrun thousands of pounds of moving metal, and a moving vehicle should not have to stop flow of traffic just because you chose NOT to utilize your available resources. It's one of those things where, society can explain it to you, but we can't UNDERSTAND it for you. As for the drivers, that's great you came forward but you most certainly SHOULD face charges ONLY because you left the scene of a pedestrian accident. It clearly really wasn't your fault (unless you were drunk or high or texting...or had outstanding warrants) so all you had to do was stay from the get go. I'll never understand why folks don't walk/wheelchair themselves the extra so many steps to a crosswalk to protect themselves. Not trying to be mean, but where's the common sense on both ends of this one?
