SAN ANTONIO - It's going to cost travelers more to get a passport or to renew an existing one.

On Thursday, the application fee for a passport jumped 27 percent to $70, from $55.

The passport security surcharge doubled to $40 from $20, plus the $25 "execution fee" on top of those costs.

Adding pages to a passport is no longer free.

It now costs $82 to add pages.
