Pizza favorite wins Blue Plate Award

SAN ANTONIO - Big Lou's Pizza has one clean kitchen, and it's this week's Blue Plate Award winner.

Big Lou's Pizza is located on the East Side at 2048 South W.W. White Road. Health inspectors checked out Big Lou's and gave the restaurant zero demerits - a perfect score.

Big Lou's owner Brian Lujan says the "Super Topping Pizza" is the most ordered. Plus, just in case you have a large appetite, Big Lou's has a 42" pizza and a 62" pizza.

the pizza is average. i like kennedys chicago pizza off 151. that pizza is good.

Also try MAAR's pizza on Nacogdoches run by same family I think, really good brisket pizza and alien fingers!

I went to big lous a few years ago. this after this was after man vrs food highlited it and before they put in the new addition . it was over crowded. we waited an hour for our meal . and the pizza WASNT that good . i can only hope its gotten better.

I agree that the pizza is average. Yes they have a large pie available, but it is just a large average pizza. I adore Caparelli's on Main. If they had a large pizza you would hear nothing of Big Lou's. Caparelli's is awesome.

was the award for "best pizza" or "most popular pizza" bc Big Lou's use to be great before that show with the fat man however since then the place is way overcrowded and the staff feels as if it's a privileged for customers to eat there. they're terrible. that show ruined Big Lou's.

was this award for "best pizza" or most popular? Big Lou's WAS a great place to eat pizza BEFORE that fat guy with a tv show ruined it. now it's overcrowded and the staff is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. they feel as if it's a privileged for customers to eat there. that show ruined Big Lou's.

This award is well deserved. The pizza is great, the people are great and the place is very nice. Big Lou's is one of the best places I know for pizza.

I have been to this pizza place and they have great service and the pizza is fantastic. Award is well deserved.
