punish case by case. do NOT punish those of us with a brain and know how to deal with responsibility

and you know what would happen with that ordinance? responsible owners would be punished. no, ALL people need to obey leash laws and make sure their homes and yards are sufficient. that's like saying, well, the majorty of crimes are committed by black, so we need to have an ordinance for ALL of them to make sure the rest of us are ok.

while I agree the majority of the blame is on the owner I still believe there should be an aggressive dog ordinance in san antonio on dogs that have the ability to kill. There is a big difference between being attacked by a poodle, dachshund or basset hound versus a german shepard, pitbull or rottweiler.

and Mr.Savage probably spouted his ignorance back in the 80s and 90s when the popular breeds to hate were the Rotties and Dobies...whatever makes him feel better, I suppose. and Pit isn't a breed, just FYI:) you probably couldn't tell the difference between a boxer mix, lab mix, and a pit mix

Make all the excuses you want. Rationalize to the degree that makes you feel better. The is only one breed of dog I will shoot on sight,pitts. These are also the only dogs ever to have attacked me for no particular reason.So,rationalize it to yourselves,you are lacking something psychologically if you need one of these as a pet.

i agree with you. i'm just so sick of seeing people who've had no experience with these dogs talk down to the rest of us who are responsible, thus generalizing the dogs, not the humans who are at fault. to say that ALL dogs in ANY breed are good/bad, is not correct and very naive. there are dogs of ALL breeds who do not like humans and/or other dogs alike. their personalities are as individual as ours. there are MANY people that i do not like and don't get along with, just as there are other dogs that mine do not get along with. anyone who cannot properly provide for their animals by keeping them inside, yards properly fenced and give them proper training should not own them. if you have to tie up your dog, you should not have a dog. tying up dogs is part of what makes them not friendly. they are not socialized. maybe if that is your way of doing it, we should tie you up for awhile and see how cranky you are about it. (not YOU as in you, ABC, but a general "you") LOL. i'm so sick of the ignorance in this town as a whole with regards to animal ownership. do you know how many dogs and cats are surrendered to the animal shelters in town because "oops, the puppy grew up and isn't as cute anymore and requires more responsibility"? our shelters are overrun. just like our schools are with kids that are being born to irresponsible people. Don't judge my pit bulls and I won't judge you chilren...

Thanks secure1. I should have said, "many" not "most". My point was to say that it wasn't the dog's fault. I see so many irresponsible pet owners everyday that it causes concern, but fortunately I think most pet owners get that owning a pet is a responsibility as well as a privilege.
