The First Public event for victims of Pitbulls & other dangerous dogs. Victims are coming to the FREE EVENT from across the USA and Canada. "Mellie" and the members of her support group have rented a park, hired on-site security and brought in two lives bands, and a food vendor along with several national speakers on the issue of dangerous dogs, including Tony Solesky and Colleen Lynn of Dogsbite.org. We will start the party with a Walk to honor victims of pitbulls at 12 Noon in Lincoln Park,4325 South Pantano Rd, Tuscon, Az 85730 on October 27th, 2012. Churches, and business groups are welcome to come out and support victims or sponsor a victim to come out to the event to help raise awareness and show support. We kick off the event with a short walk at Noon and we will carry posters of victims that cannot attend due to the severity of their injuries, or due to the fact that they were killed by a pitbull. DOGS ARE PROHIBITED AT THE EVENT. First responders will entertain kids and a playground is onsite. The Free event will run until 7 p.m. http://walkforvictimsofpitbulls.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Walkforvictimsofpbodd?ref=ts

Most pit bulls are not bred to fight. Just like most labs are not bred to hunt. Most dogs nowadays are bred as companion dogs.

Because breeders and enthusiasts will only skirt around any ban by further blending breeds, there is no point in trying to ban the range that is refer to as "pit bull". Instead I would suggest that anyone who owns an animal that is judged capable of biting through an adult human femur be required to: 1. obtain a permit 2. muzzle their animal any time they take it off their property 3. face justice for any injury caused by their animal as if they themselves had caused it with full intent, up to and including facing the death penalty. There is no earthly reason to have dogs bred to fight and destroy roaming around my kids at the park. Just because these owners -- irresponsible clowns, all of them -- decide to take chances with vicious animals, why do I have to live with the risk of injury?

Taula, May as well forget about banning pit bulls. Pit bulls are not a specific breed, but many different breeds. If a dog with short hair and is stout attacks someone, it is automatically a pit bull. Besides that, these dogs are now the most popular dogs in the US today, and many states, including TX, outlaws banning any breed. If San Antonio wants to ban pit bulls, they have to ban ALL breeds. Know the law and the real problem (humans) before making such ignorant remarks. Have you ever even met a pit bull type dog? I very much doubt it. The real public nuisance in this country is people that want to make more laws, but yet, do not have the fuzziest idea what they are talking about. People like you are a nuisance to this country's free dom and liberty, because you are ignorant, and cannot see what the real issue is. Calling for breed bans is nothing new, as many other breeds lived this story before, and now they are fine. Hmmmm, how is that, if the actual breeds were the problems, and not the thugs they were popular with at the time? They will never be banned in San Antonio, and the more people want to ban them, and vilify them, the more the very people you wouldn't want owning them acquire them. Understand the issue before coming up with a resolution. People become obsessed with pit bulls, because of ignorant people like you that fails to see the real problem, yet wants to punish the dogs for it, and ignore bad owners. So what is the end result? They choose a new breed for dummies to want to ban.

Some One, here, is Monopolizing the message board, so I am re-posting my previous response. Like it or Not: I Stand by my previous Comment; to Ban the pit bull breed from San Antonio.. Consider them a "dangerous public nuance" Ban, then Phase them out by allowing the current responsible owners to keep theirs (only "fixed" dogs), Grandfather in the current pit bulls, then That's It! Btw, I have known of people who were literally OBSESSED with pit bulls.. Perhaps, LadyFingers is One of Them..
