Pilot dies after ultralight crash in Schertz

SCHERTZ, Texas -- The pilot of an ultralight aircraft has died after a crash in Schertz.

The crash happened just after 9:00 a.m. Friday off of Red Iron, near Vestal Steel Specialties. The pilot, 53-year-old David Denning of Navasota, Texas, died at University Hospital after his aircraft nosedived into a field shortly after taking off from Kitty Hawk Flying Field in Garden Ridge.

Information on what caused the crash has not been released.
