SAN ANTONIO - A new fat-blocking Pepsi is set to be released in Japan.

The soda, called "Pepsi Special", contains a fat-blocking fiber called dextrin which helps reduce fat levels in blood.

The soda is targeted toward health-conscious men in their thirties and older.

In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration monitors health claims on consumer products, and prohibits sodas and candies from being fortified with nutrients.

Soda makers can't add nutrients. OK. The normal soda drinker will just get it from someplace else, probably in a much greater amount than they would ever get from Pepsi. This is something to watch.
