MESQUITE, Texas (AP) - A suburban Dallas boy has been barred from playing peewee football because the league says he's just too big at nearly 300 pounds.

Mesquite Pee Wee Football Association President Ronnie Henderson says the rule is clear and 12-year-old Elijah Earnheart is not eligible. The 6-foot-1-inch boy exceeds the 135-pound limit for seventh-graders.

Henderson says he's looking out for the safety of all the kids.

Elijah's mother and coach want him reinstated before the Mesquite Viking's first game on Saturday. They point to an exception in the rulebook that might allow him to play certain line positions.

Cindy Earnheart says being banned after three weeks of practice hurt Elijah's feelings. She says "football is a contact sport. If you don't want your son tackled, get him off the field."

tell this lady to bump her kid up a class. since he's so big and football is a "contact" sport he should have no problem. besides the only way to improve your self is to play with someone better, it would only help him out in the long run. i know if my kid was that big id be damed if i let him play with some scrony little kids!!!!just saying

I am just so tired of holding people back because they are Too Good, Too Big, Too Successful , for the rest of society. Let this kid play according to the rules for others in his category. I guess if he were worse or smaller than the rest of the kids you would say the same thing. I have an idea any kid too small or too big stay off the field. Only kids between 120 and 130 lbs can play.

so in other words a boy can't grow 30 lbs a year during there formative years. and to be honest people everything wrong in society today is based on a liberal mindset and this idea that everything has to be fair to everyone all the time has it's roots in liberalism so if you don't like it don't respond.

"FoundingFather," every time you don't agree with someone's comments you call them a liberal. You need to find something other than politics to occupy your mind. You'll really spin yourself into the ceiling if Obama gets reelected in November.

i feel bad for this kid since if he's good he would have a great future in football, but i wouldn't want my scrawny-a** kid getting tackled by a 6'1", 300 lb kid either

Tell Refridgerator Perry here that not everyone can be on the Pee Wee football team. Brainwash him that he is special and gets to play with older kids. He'll be out in a month or so with a fractured something or another.
