SAN ANTONIO -- Police are trying to figure out who shot a man who was found near a Downtown fire station on Thursday.
Around 2:45 a.m. a passing driver spotted a person lying near the intersection of Bowie and Bonham. When that driver went up to the man, he saw that he had been shot and was gasping for air.
The man, said to be in his 40s, was shot twice in the chest. The motorist ran to the nearby San Antonio fire station #1.
The firefighters quickly responded to the emergency.
According to the police report, the victim was apparently shot at close range. There was also a name found in one of his jacket's pockets, but investigators don't know if that is the victim's identity.
So far there are no suspects in this shooting or motive. The wounded man is in critical condition.
