SAN ANTONIO -- A family is looking for a place to stay after fire damaged their West Side home Wednesday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to a home in the 400 block of Amires Place around 3:00 p.m. A fire department spokesperson said a passerby knocked on the family's front door and told them there was a fire at the back of their home. The family tried to put out the fire with a garden hose, but the flames continued to spread. When firefighters arrived, the entire back of the home was on fire. They were able to put out the flames before they spread to any nearby structures, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, and an arson team is investigating.
Damage estimates were set at between $5,000 and $10,000.
