SAN ANTONIO - A mother believes a fifth grader should not be allowed to return to Patricia Blattman Elementary School after alleged sexual misconduct with several students, including her son.
The mother, who did not want to be identified, says back in October 2001 an 11-year-old began touching other boys on their backs, and then eventually began touching their private parts and saying he loved the other students. She says the inappropriate touching happened in the cafeteria and bathroom areas.
Northside ISD spokesman Pascual Gonzalez says the district police department conducted an investigation after the incident was reported to the school counselor and principal. Gonzalez says Child Protective Services also conducted an investigation of the alleged inappropriate touching. Gonzalez says there was not sufficient evidence to prove he was guilty of sexual misconduct, but he says the boy touched others on the outside of their pants in a non-sexual manner.
The district spokesman says the student in question was removed from school for two weeks and returned Monday, despite the mother's concerns. Administrators placed the student in another classroom away from the alleged victims.
According to Gonzalez, the boy does not have a history of issues in the classroom or with other students.
If parents are concerned and feel their children need help regarding this situation, Gonzalez suggests parents and students speak with the campus counselor or principal.
