SAN ANTONIO - The parents of a 7-year-old boy were arrested Saturday morning after police say they beat him with a belt, a stick, and even a hammer.

Yvonne Hernandez, 24, and Samuel Strait, 27, were both charged with injury to a child.

They were arrested after a Child Protective Services investigator reported severe bruises on the little boy. The parents said they were trying to prevent the boy from committing suicide. They said their son was having suicidal thoughts because of sexual abuse by a relative, but investigators said they found the allegations to be unfounded.

I am so saddened and want to make this a positive. How can I help this boy to have a wonderful holiday? I am willing to take gifts, food, or other items necessary to help. Please provide information on how to go about sending him a positive message that he is loved...

Tried to stop the boy from suicide by hitting him with a hammer....let's think about this for aa moment...yeah, nah, nevermind. Dear Presiding Judge: Please do what the court of public opinion suggests on this one. Make people want to re-elect you to your position. I don't at all care your party affiliation. I care that you make the decision that all sane Texans would approve of....

Children under the age of ten do commit suicide. This child has so many reasons to despair. Check the following statistics. http://www.afsp.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.viewpage&page_id=04EB7CD1-9EED-9712-89C9540AFCB44481

If the boy had been sexually abused by a relative why wasn't the pervert in jail and the boy in counselling? A seven year old has no concept of suicide. All this poor boy will remember is that his mother didn't protect him. This will destroy is faith in humanity and fester into a hatred towards women. Hopefully he will find a loving home and extensive counselling. He isn't ruined for life but his scars will run deep.

This couple is beyond human. It's unforgiving to the point that they do not deserve to live, scums from the pits of hell, children of Satan. Evil at it's best. I pray for this child, who did not deserve to be treated like an animal, grow up and hopefully be a productive human being. No way like his mother! God help us, just saying...

The best thing that would have happened would have been if the 7-year old boys parents Yvonne Hernandez, 24, and Samuel Strait, 27, would have commited suicide their own selfs in a double suicide. Because they have now ruined the 7-yr olds life and he will now grow to be a angry crimminal because these two idiot parents have trained him to be. The cycle keeps going around and the child will do the same to his own children when he grows up.

These child abusers probaly do not read newspapers or news sites or they could have used the 'christian' defense that the Rockport judge used to beat his 16 year old daughter. Maybe child abusers, as part of their punishment, could be whipped/beaten/burnt/starved/cursed equally as they hurt their child. The judge's child survived but this child has a long way to become an adult and hopefuly break the chain of violance in his life.
