SAN ANTONIO -- Police arrested two people in connection with a violent attack on an elderly man on the West Side.
Investigators said 38-year-old Gilbert Basaldua and 53-year-old Diana Amador robbed the man Friday near Highway 151 and Old Highway 90. The victim was stabbed several times in the torso during the robbery. Police were able to track down Basaldua and Amador with the help of a witness who saw the attack.
"One of the witnesses was able to get a very clear description of the vehicle the suspects were in. It's a very distinctive looking vehicle," explained Sgt. Jaime Trevino of the San Antonio Police Department. "They gave that to the responding officers, who put it out on the radio."
Investigators said Basaldua and Amador stole the elderly man's wallet to get money to buy drugs.
