SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio police officer shot a man who ran at him with a butcher knife.

The shooting happened around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday at a Valero gas station at Southwest Military Drive and Commercial on the South Side.

According to investigators, two officers were at the gas station after getting a call about some suspicious looking men. When they arrived, the man with the knife ran off. The officers chased him until he turned and came at them.

When he refused to put down the knife, Officer Daniel Pue shot at the man, hitting him in the leg.

The man was taken to Wilford Hall for treatment. He now faces one count of attempted capital murder.

Officer Pue has been placed on administrative duty while the shooting is under investigation per departmental policy.

Heh, if that were me, I'd have shot 12 warning shots in his groin and head. THEN, I'd say the gun accidentally discharged on its own.

Well I am sorry I don't remember. Fine if you don't want to answer.

Because we've danced this dance before and I answered you back then. Also, it really isn't relevant to this story. Furthermore, we've turned this thread into our own personal chatroom. My apologies to the other posters.

You didn't answer my question. Are you a born again christian?

This is my last post on this matter. I do not know Officer Pue. I do not know if he "chose" to shoot the offender in the leg. But any officer should be trained to shoot to terminate the threat. Usually, you shoot where they're the biggest. This is safest course of action since in the heat of the moment your aim will not be like it is at the range against a paper silhouette. So, if Officer Pue was aiming at center mass and hit the leg, I would not insult his aim because of the stress of a "real life" situation. However, if Officer Pue was confident enough to aim at the leg of a moving, armed man in the dark while under stress, and he hit what he was aiming at? Well, then I would commend him on his marksmanship!

So the officer chose to not shoot this man in the chest and empty his glock,he chose to shoot him in the leg. But commentors here think that he is a poor shot because he shot him in the leg.Tha is what I don't understand. That is why I said "you people are crazy".

fredmanjr - 3/10/2010 3:06 PM
Point taken. I apolgize for calling people crazy. I know I am not perfect. However I believe that the comments that were made were "crazy". They want blood for some reason, but I shouldn't expect anything less from a fallen world. Are you a born again christian two beers?

Silly question...I would WANT him to shoot me in the leg. Actually, I would WANT him to bake me cookies, but I would understand (posthumously) if he chose to empty his Glock in my chest. My bad for being drunk and stupid in public, I guess.

See freddy? You say all that and it makes sense. EXCEPT for the fact that you say "You people are crazy" in one post and "I am not judging" in the next. Yes, of course we all fall short. But you can't continuously be a judgemental jerk and then hide behind the "we all fall short" defense. Are you "loving one another as Jesus loves us" when you are calling people names? Shouldn't we be trying to do our best? Especially if we are going to lecture others to do so?
