@chowtrain, thanks for what you do. There CANNOT be too mny thoughtful and charitable acts. Many do have difficulty living indoors and who are we to judge? it is true that dodie is hostile and posts hateful words often so don't let her rain on your parade. These last few years have been so hard on so many. God bless you!

Thechowtrain-If you have ever read the comments on this site before, you would know that Dodie Lee is just an internet troll that likes to make up stupid religious rants to try to get a rise out of people. Don't sweat it. Kudos to you & keep up the good work!

Thank u 4 ur comments. Let me set the record straight; There IS a law that protects all of us who want to help those people who are hungry- called The Good Samaritan law (both federal &Texas) AND the FIRST AMENDMENT- freedom of religion AND freedom of assembly. As to the green "glob" it's called Curried Zucchini soup & it is delish&healthy! I can send u the recipe. As to Haven for Hope and SAMMs (of which I am a BIG fan),there was a time in the not so distant past that those who were staying at Haven's outside area, Prospect, were ONLY receiving cold sandwiches, every day 2 x a day. Even now they DO NOT RECEIVE hot meals every day or even every other day. I understand budgetary restraints -- but I still believe that it's important for all of us to do what we can to help those in need. I always applaud publicly the efforts of Haven for Hope;they have made a difference in the lives of many people but NOT ALL. There are many people for VARIOUS reasons do not want to live in a shelter & prefer to live outdoors -- be it because of mental illness or issues that neither YOU nor I could ever understand. Haven for Hope is FULL (they are not taking in any more people) so what do we do with the people on waiting lists? IGNORE them? Drive right by them? NOT ME. You are right to say there are people who do not want to work BUT there are a lot of people who DO WANT TO WORK & cannot find it. Nobody we serve EXPECTS or demands a handout;they r grateful. Not everyone we serve is HOME-LESS. Many HAVE a home but no food. And Dodie, slavery is ILLEGAL; Haven for Hope is NOT a jail (what LAW have they broken? Is being poor a CRIME in this country? REALLY?) & I don't think "the law" will raid the truck (we aren't breaking any laws first of all) since we always serve a meal to "the law" when we see those wonderful police officers on the street. Nobody is stealing or sinning & I'm so glad you are a Christian bc u must be familiar w Matthew 25:35 "When I was hungry, YOU fed me." Thank u.

While I admire what they are doing, I also think they should get their facts straight. It's quite apparent that these people have never volunteered to serve or help prepare meals at a homeless shelter. If they had, they would realize that they are NOT served "bologna sandwiches". I have had the privileged of volunteering at such a place and they are served good balanced meals. Give credit where credit is due. I couldn't even begin to recognize what was being served up in the green glob pot. Never saw such a thing at the Sam shelter. Hundreds of volunteers do this job daily there...without recognition. The only thing different is that the food served is recognizable, and the homeless have to go there. Gee, Dottie, I though you were a God fearing person.

Aren't there supposed to be laws against feeding these people? They now have that Haven for Hope place for the homeless, so that they can keep them locked up there. Those people can eat there, even though they don't deserve to get to eat because they don't work for it. Our tax dollars are used to give them welfare checks and grocery stamps, which they also don't deserve. Instead of them using the money and the stamps for shelter and groceries, they use it all to buy dope, beer, whiskey, cigarettes, and pornography. Then, they expect more handouts. They're too lazy and sorry to work, but they think that they should have everything handed over to them on a silver platter. They all need to be rounded up and put to work on a county farm so far out in the country that they can't get back into town. They need to be fed only bread and water, and they should be forced to work for that or have the guards take a prison strap to them. As a Christian, I am appalled that people are so easily allowed to take what they don't deserve. The Lord says that we must work for what we receive. Otherwise it is the same as stealing, which is a sin that God and Jesus simply cannot forgive. The law needs to stake out this truck and nab all the homeless people they catch eating from it and lock them up at the Haven for Hope. The truck needs to be raided and the people working it it need to be hauled off to jail in chains for breaking the feeding law and for enabling these trashy people to sin against our Lord and steal our tax dollars.

You know, left to our own devices and the government not taking so many of our hard earned dollars, forcing us to support those capable of providing for themselves, I believe that you'd see acts like this grow, along with the support, dollars, and help behind them. I think that the good, kind hearts are still out there, they're just already put upon to the max, and anger and resentment has set in. The American populace is one of the most giving on the planet, when it's given freely from the heart and not "expected, taken, and distributed" on the plan of others.

Bless her for trying to make a difference in people's lives who are down on their luck. A little kindness is a cold hard world goes a long way.
