No more junk food on the taxpayers' dime?

State Representative Richard Raymond says way too many people on the state's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, buy way too much of the stuff.

They need to take this one step further and NOT allow the corner Habib mart to accept the lone star card ether .I was in line at one when a women in front of used it to get cash from the store operator .now she only got 20 but spent 40 on the card but was able to buy her cigarettes and beer... Unbelievable !

I am with you on that camidawg!! I am so tired of seeing them buy nothing but crap foods while they're decked out in gold, driving a brand new 300 and plenty of money in their pocket book when they open it to pay for cigs & beer. Day after day, it makes me sick. If you need the help, get it but the ones that cheat the system...plain tired of it.

They should go back to actual stamps that can be used mostly for foods that are needed in every household plus items based on the age of the children who live in the home...I have NEVER known that an infant or toddler can eat a basket full of brisket, fajitas, or ribs! Or that they should pay for the basket full of food for the couple next to you in line...for anyone to say that abuse doesn't happen or the use of a card reduces the chances of it happening needs to get in line at our local HEBs and watch one recipient pay for the order beloning to the people in front of them...

Oh come on you're violating their rights. Joe and Jane Tax Payers owe that to them.

Yes please. Anyone with any sense at all will agree with this proposal. It's the theory like parenting: 'If you live under my roof you will eat the food I fix. If I am putting in tax $$ for your food assistance then you will eat what we deem healthy.' I cease contributing to your diabetes ridden carcass because you like chicharrones in your tacos, Coke instead of OJ, Snickers bars instead of a banana. You can buy junk food with that wad of 20s you have in your pocket that I see you pull out when you buy your 30 packs of Bud Light and weekend grilling items. I welcome you to try and oppose to my argument. Know this, I am talking to ALL races here. Even you white people who insist on unloading two carts full of Little Debbies and frozen everything at the Wal-Mart on 87 and 410 while seperating your Old Milwaukee from the pile.
