SAN ANTONIO -- A state representative has filed a bill that would prevent families on food assistance from being able to buy things like chips or candy.
State Representative Richard Raymond says way too many people on the state's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, buy way too much of the stuff. Under his proposed bill SNAP recipients with Lone Star Cards won't be able to buy unnaturally sweetened beverages, like sodas and many juices, candy, chips, or cookies.
