Texas--Starting February 1st, drillers in the state will have to disclose both total water and the chemicals used in fracking. The water and chemical usage will be posted online at FracFocus.org.

"The more we're informed with the truth the better off or more at peace we will be, " said Interim Pearsall City Manager Ruben Frausto.

This new rule comes as a result of legislation passed during the 82nd Legislative Session.

Justin Furnace, president of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association told News 4 WOAI (TIPRO) is proud to have been part of the process in working to develop this new benchmark for industry disclosure.

"It's important to note that many Eagle Ford operators have been voluntarily disclosing this information on FracFocus.org since the website launched nearly a year ago, " added Furnace.

Furnace went on to say Hydraulic fracturing has been safely used in Texas for over 60 years.

Unless Mr. Frausto is a chemist he and the citizens of Frio County won't know what harm the chemicals can cause today or tomorrow. Oil drilling companies know how to cover up potential trouble areas.

Don't get too excited. there is a clause in the bill that says they don't have to disclose any chemicals that they deem company secrets. well funny how all may now become 'company secrets'. this bill did nothing but make it look like the gov't was trying to do something good. if they wanted to make a bill that was worth it's weight they would not have put that clause in there. then again, if they didn't...they would have been lobbied to death not to pass it by the companies. since they have to have a loophole and all. sign, this bill was a waste of taxpayers time and money and not the worth the paper it was printed on.
