SAN ANTONIO- A former training instructor at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Lackland is facing new charges related to the growing sex scandal involving more than a dozen training instructors.
A hearing was already held for Staff Sergeant Craig Le Blanc on charges of sexual misconduct and adultery back in late June. Another hearing involving new allegations was scheduled for Staff Sergeant Le Blanc Monday morning, but it was abruptly canceled Sunday evening, without any explanation from the military.
Le Blanc is one of 19 former (JBSA) Lackland training instructors accused in the military sex scandal this year.
According to Brent Boller, spokesperson for (JBSA), “These new charges, additional charges involve a violation of lawful general regulation, disobeying a lawful order, and making a false official statement”.
Boller goes on to say the next step for Le Blanc could be an Article 32 Hearing. It would determine whether he will be one step closer to joining the ranks of a handful of former training instructors court marshaled this year at (JBSA) Lackland.
“It's difficult to say exactly what he'll face at a general court-marshal, of course we don't even know if its going to a court-martial,” explained Boller.
Forty-four women have come forward this year claiming that military instructors at (JBSA) Lackland have inappropriately contacted, harassed, or sexually assaulted them.
In an effort to prevent sexual assault in the military Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta announced this week he is instituting higher standards for sexual assault prevention and response training for pre-command training.
