FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - A terrorism consultant says the Army psychiatrist charged in the Fort Hood shooting rampage visited terror groups' websites before the 2009 attack.

The judge in Maj. Nidal Hasan's case will decide if Evan Kohlmann will be an expert witness at the trial starting in May.

Kohlmann acknowledged at Wednesday's pretrial hearing that he couldn't prove Hasan listened to terror leaders' sermons that were downloaded onto his laptop.

Kohlmann said Hasan watched a news broadcast containing audio of Osama bin Laden. Defense attorneys played the video where a journalist talked about bin Laden's audio message.

Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the shootings at the Texas Army post.

Hasan, an American-born Muslim, faces the death penalty if convicted.

@Canaandogsrule, he was not allowed to plead guilty because this IS a death penalty case and he IS eligible for the death penalty. No plea bargain to get out from under the death penalty for a guilty plea. This travesty needs to be over with PDQ.

The worst part of this story is what I just read online: he wanted to plead guilty, but because of military law that does not allow the death penalty in this case, he was not allowed to plead out. Such a travesty of justice. Please allow me just a few minutes with him so I can hurry him on to his 71 virgins.

This MF should have died but recovered from his wounds while at BAMMC. His room was heavily guarded, good thing cause then there wouldn't be this story. They have wasted so much tax money on this pos its one of the worst waste for a human life.

I'm with trutex. Any arguments over whether Hasan is or isn't a terrorist are pointless. He is (1) a murdering SoB, and (2)he attacked members of the US Army on an Army base. He is by that, anti-American in the worst way. On top of all that, he is a gutless coward. Execute him asap, but first shave the sniveling bartard's beard, don't feed him anything but pork for the last two months of his life, then let's see by that discern the his true conviction in Islam. This is, after all, according to our President, a Muslim nation. We have dawdled long enough. In the interest of our Islamism, lets convict Hasan under Sharia Law and publicly behead him NOW!

Submerge him in pig's blood. Then hang him from a tree by his hands and let all the family members who lost loved ones use him for a pinata.
