Neighbor threatened with shotgun after catching robbers in the act

I would agree that with the description of the suspects now public- one fat Mexican woman and two Mexicans wearing hoodies- the culprits will likely be brought to justice soon. However, in our neighborhood, we have found that shooting the wretches has proved more efficatious in discouraging burglaries. This is the procedure in Christian neighborhoods, though it is not usually mentioned in the press, as we call Christian police officers (yes, there are a few still) to the scene. Last night, one wretch escaped briefly over near the Cornerstone Church and attracted some attention with his body while his partner survived to go to the hospital. That was a little messy and we are working to improve accuracy, as that would have solved both problems. I would urge any in areas outside Christian control to adopt our procedures. All this is important, but it is more important to come to Jesus. It's that or Hell. All things considered, which do you value more, your TV or your immortal soul? That dead burglar over in Stone Oak is in Hell. Don't join him there; it's too hot.

It's too easy to steal guns from people, that includes the teens who steal them from their parents, but also home and vehicle robberies. Of course criminals are risking getting killed but not so much the teens stealing from parents.

Yes you agree, but go back to cuddling criminals. And I'm not talking about judges. They interpret the rules made by the law-makers. Congress...Senate. They are the pussilanimous club. Overcrowding shouldn't be the pretext to justify murderers and rapists being loose. It's just that some laws are too soft. I guess non-violent offenders should be freed, but put on a kind of community service, or something other than ocuppy rooms better suited for hardened, violent felons and thieves. In my neighborhood, Broadway at Middlebury, there have been several burglaries and police just come to say hi and go back to their rounds, whatever that is, and never, ever catch a thief. That behavior is not trustworthy.

I agree with you, FreeHole, to an extent. I wouldn't characterize police as not being able to be trusted. And according to our Constitution, everyone is entitled to a defense and a fair trial. We have plenty of laws on the books for dealing with all kinds of crimes. We need to enforce the ones we have before we look in to creating new ones. One of the problems we have is prison overcrowding. We've imprisoned so many drug offenders there's no room for the dangerous criminals. That forces judges to make tough decisions based on past history, current offense and such, when it comes to determining a sentence. Sometimes they get it wrong, but it's not completely the judge's fault. If they knew there was plenty of room to incarcerate a convicted criminal, it would be an easier decision. It's just not as cut and dry as you'd like to make it out to be. One last thing, criminals don't have better rights than honest, decent, law-abiding folk. We all have the same rights. Don't confuse victim's rights with criminal's rights and try to say that criminals have it better. It's an apples and oranges comparison. As a victim you have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. When someone violates those rights, like taking your stuff, they get arrested and then have the right to a defense and a fair trial. Whether they did it or not, doesn't matter, they still have those rights. Once convicted, they lose their right to vote and they lose their liberty. That's the way this country works. It's not perfect sometimes, but if you want to make it better, then we need to work together and come up with sound, solid solutions, not emotional reactions like "three strikes and you're dead".

I agree with donoho. The neighbor could have sharp-shoot them both, lawfully....but it makes me think, depressingly...isn't a shame that people have to arm themselves to protect their lives and property? Isn't a pity that a decent, honest man or woman should have to kill or maim someone just because the so-called enforcement agencies can't obviously control crime in our cities, despite the millions and millions of tax-payer dollars being wasted on them? Sadly, in that sense we are becoming another Mexico (Texico), where entire towns are arming themselves, as civilians, to protect themselves from the ever increasing waves of crime, because police can't be trusted anymore. I blame the law-makers, so pussilanimous they want to cuddle and kiss and reassure the criminals that they will be treated "fairly", because we are "civilized". Baloney, honey. Three strikes you are dead, must be our motto. Call your representatives in congress and demand effective action against all kind of crime, including white collar and corporate. Criminals shouldn't have better rights than the honest, decent, law abiding folk.

You know the neighbor should have been armed, so that when the perp pulled a weapon on him, he could have killed him. In that neighborhood, I promise you that more than half the residence would have been.
