SAN ANTONIO -- A young girl is recovering after neighbors say she was attacked by a dog Monday.
The attack happened around 12:00 p.m. Monday at a home in the 100 block of Allsup on the West Side. Witnesses said the little girl was playing in a backyard when a stray dog approached her from behind and grabbed her by the hair. Two neighbors ran over and began beating the dog to try to get it to release the girl. A third neighbor realized what was happening, grabbed a pistol, and shot the dog three times, killing it.
The girl was not seriously injured.
Tests will be run on the dog's body to confirm whether or not it had rabies.
