All parents of Northside ISD students will be getting an important phone call Monday.  That's when the district will be testing their new "School Messenger" alert system.

The system will automatically contact the parents of the 95,000 students and 13,000 students in the district.  Monday will just be a test, but future calls could be about emergency situations in the district, any weather delays or closings, or other important information parents should know immediately.

If you're an NISD parent and you don't get a call Monday, call your school with your updated contact information.

Other school districts, like South San, San Antonio, Judson and Harlandale already have similar systems in place.

Not to defend Judson because I really do not approve of the superintendent, but they have to make those calls. I used to work out there. I can't tell you how many parents dropped their children off at school on holidays! It was appalling! When we would call them to come back and pick them up they got angry!

I hope it works better than Judsons parent alert. They always call right at dinner time with messages such as "Come to school. Attendance is mandatory or tomorrows thanksgiving. We don't have school. I can count in one hand the number of messages that were actually pertinant to any of my kids schools.
