BANDERA, Texas -- Investigators say a man whose pregnant wife was found murdered in Virginia Monday killed himself in front of Bandera County deputies the following morning.
Chief Deputy Matt King says 31-year-old Timothy Connor shot himself in the driveway of his mother's home in Bandera County Tuesday at about 11:30 a.m. Investigators say his wife, 38-year-old Jennifer Lynne Pearson, was found dead in the couple's Reston, Virginia apartment Monday after a fire broke out there. Officials said Pearson, who was pregnant, had trauma to her upper body, and police are investigating her death as a homicide.
A neighbor reported hearing a loud argument in the building a few hours before smelling smoke.
Chief King says police in Fairfax County, Va., had contacted the Bandera County Sheriff's Office to ask deputies to be on the lookout for Connor's vehicle. Deputies spotted the silver Nissan Sentra with Virginia plates in the neighborhood and followed it to his mother's home. Chief King says Connor got out of the car with a gun pointed to his head. The two deputies took cover and tried to get Connor to drop his gun, but he shot himself. Connor was flown by AirLife to University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Because deputies witnessed the shooting, Chief King says the Texas Rangers are conducting the investigation.
