Greetings from bonnie Scotland, Maybe this guy should read Relapse 2 Recovery, memoirs of a recovering alcoholic that decribes in harrowing detail the downword spiral of misery and devastation that abusing alcohol can have on the lives of family, friends and colleagus of the problem drinker. I received so much encouragement and support from the good people of San Antonio during my visit a number of years ago.....A beautiful City, wonderful people and the amazing river walk to enjoy. Thank you Phil G Edinburgh Scotland www.relapse2recovery.com

I see people are trying rail against his lengthy sentence because he never kilt nobody. Do we really need to see the sheet over someones body before we say, oh yeah he should go away for a looooong time. No we shouldn't. If you suck at doing something illegal (and oviously he does) then maybe you should be kept away from the public from ever trying it again. Because one day he was gonna make a family's T-Day and Christmas the worst ever. At least now, it's only HIS holidays that blow. Which is fine by me. I'm thinking mandatory 20 years for first offense. Then for the festivities all the familia can gather around a glass window with the drunk tio on the other side wishing he hadn't gotten behind that wheel. Get serious Texas...you wanna secede, then show us that you're not too mamby-pamby to be on your own.

I dont get the logic. A DUI fatality gets from probation to 20 years. This guy never injured anyone gets a life sentence.......DUI lawyers strike again.

Isn't it that guy rom "Ask a mexican"? If we had real reporters, they would dig way deeper into this case and probe questions like, hmmm, is he even here legally? But real journalism is been dead now for years.

Given all that time it wouldn't have hurt and possibly would have fixed him If you gave him 3 or more years at his 2nd DWI..maybe then he wouldn't get to 8 DWI's

They should have made him a crash test dummy with no insurance benefits or medical care. life in prison is going to cost taxpayers a pretty penny... so now he gets fed 3 times a day, internet access, and probably earn several degrees on our dime..way to go judicial system..

This is awesome news. It really sucks that I fear me or my family driving is this damn town at night. I really wish they would change a DWI death from manslaughter to murder. I understand its without intent, but i believe that killing someone in an accident while DWI does not necessarily fall under that. You are purposely firing a loaded weapon into a crowd when you drive a vehicle on a road while drunk. Something has to be done and while sad that it took 8 times to get this POS off the streets, at least its a start.
