SALT LAKE CITY (NBC News Channel) -- Most of are not as good at multitasking as we think.
Researchers at the University of Utah claim 97-percent of people are bad at multitasking. They studied more than 300 students and discovered two things:
- people who multitask the most, are the least capable of doing it.
- people who think they are really good at multitasking have several things in common.
Multitaskers tend to score higher in impulsivity, are higher in sensation seeking, and tend to be overconfident of their abilities, when in fact, their actual ability is nowhere good as they think.
Researchers say their study is designed to help fight distracted driving. They say if you want to reduce distracted driving, you have to understand why people multitask in the first place.
