SAN ANTONIO -- Bexar County sources are calling it an outbreak of Salmonella poisoning at the Bexar County Jail. But jail administrators will only refer to these cases as “severe food poisoning”.

The outbreak happened inside the main jail facility downtown. The number of inmates affected is between 70 and 100. Four men were sent to a local hospital for treatment. And as of today, three out of those four inmates had been treated and released.

At this point, the jail is working with Aramark to figure out how happened. But our sources tell us they are closely looking at meat the inmates were served late last week. Since last Friday, all of the inmates at the main jail have been given Gatorade to help speed up the recovery process.

Metro health has confirmed they are investigating a foodborne illness situation and the problem has been contained to the jail.

Jail administrators have not received a complaint in the last day. So, they do believe the problem has been fixed.

They are lucky they get food , period , stop whinnying , it is karma , hope they are suffering, it was not intentional so therefore should not be a case for lawsuits , by the way if in jail they should have no rights , they are animals with rabies , in my opinion I wish it would be a more frequent acurrance.just my opinion , when leaning over that toilet to vomit watch your back (ha ha) as I said Karma just plain Karma .

Who really cares about the food at the jail? These inmates really deserve bread and water - period.

If they were only fed bread and water like they deserve, this wouldn't happen.

I usually dont entertain "cavemen" like gilly and badge...but if it were them, or a loved one, they'd be cryin' like brats. Plus, you can pretty much tell if food is bad before you cook it, Aramark wouldnt feed it to anyone else that could go at them with lawsuits.
