SAN ANTONIO -- News 4 WOAI uncovered how park police have added six new officers to help patrol the new stretch of the River Walk known as the "Museum Reach."

Several park police officers can already been seen patrolling the new River Walk more than week before it opens.

Graffiti was starting to pop up under some bridges and park police wanted to put a stop to it before it got out of control.

Suzanne Scott, the San Antonio River Authority’s General Manager, told News 4 WOAI, “We are going to make sure people are safe up here. It is very well lit at night.”

In addition to more park police officers for the area, the department will also have a substation right on the river’s bank.
