SAN ANTONIO - A mother doesn’t believe it was an accident that caused her son to suffer a staph infection. She thinks the injury resulted from a bully throwing the 9th grader into a trash can at Judson High School on November 2.
The distraught, single parent told us her son had emergency surgery Sunday at North Central Baptist Hospital for a staph infection.
The 9th grader said he went into a restroom at the high school, and after a brief exchange of words a bully tossed him into a trash container and he suffered a cut on his shin.
The 15 year old said he reported it to the school nurse.
According to a Judson Police report, the student did complain of an incident in the restroom. Judson ISD spokesman Steve Linscomb said there are no surveillance cameras inside the restrooms, so police could not confirm the attack.
“For my son to be in the hospital, this is very serious, extremely serious," said the boy’s mom.
She insists she has reported several times where a bully has threatened or hurt her son.
At this time Linscomb said no students have been suspended or questioned about the attack.
The concerned mother is considering a plan to transfer her son to another school after he is released from the hospital.
Judson ISD does have information on its website to help parents with concerns about
bullying.
The mom we spoke with offers her own solution too. She would like to talk to retired veterans about serving as hall monitors in all school districts on a volunteer basis.
