It is not always the drivers. These people think that just because the pedistrain has the right of way to that they can walk when and where they want. Not saying these women were jaywalking..they may not have and crossed at the right time and the car failed to yield or they did jay walk and the car couldn't stop his car going 45 mph right away. It is the courtesy and RESPONSIBILITY of the drivers AND the walkers...I have walked down Huebner at rush hour...and these cars go FAST. We, both drivers and walkers, need to take care of each other and quite playing the blame game.

I've had many people, mainly women with strollers, walk out into the traffic without looking either direction in store parking lots. Most of the time they are not in designated walk-ways. I was of the impression that pedestrians only have the right-of-way in marked walk-ways in parking lots as well as on public streets. Most seem to think they have the right-of-way no matter where they cross just because they are a pedestrian. Somebody needs to clarify the law so EVERYONE gets the information.

Hey, Texan, the cops aren't doing the cracking down, it's the drivers. Problem is, it's not working.

You would think that people who jay walk would pay more attention to cars.

Too many people jaywalk here in San Antonio rather than taking the time to walk to the nearest crosswalk. I thought the police were cracking down on jaywalkers?
