SAN ANTONIO -- For the second time in a week, a bomb threat has prompted evacuations in San Antonio.
Around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, a few dozen guests and staff members at the Menger Hotel were evacuated after a bomb threat was called in to the front desk. The threat gave a specific time the bombs would go off and where in the hotel they were located.
"Not a good way to start the day," said Menger guest Dave Murray.
Dave and his wife were evacuated after the call was received. The couple was staying on the second floor of the hotel.
"She comes running down and says we have to leave the hotel cause there was a bomb there," Dave told us. "I had no idea, cause no one said anything to me. So, we just kind of calmly left the hotel."
The bomb squad was called in to search the hotel, including the restaurant, but nothing was found.
On Monday, a similar threat was made concerning a plane en route from Baltimore to San Antonio's International Airport. A thorough search was done, but nothing was found. The same goes for another threat made in the parking garage at the airport in early August.
"We're treating them each at separate independent calls and taking them on their merit," explained San Antonio Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Javier Salazar. "We're investigating them each, each separately."
Police aren't saying much more on how the calls could be linked. They're trying to track the calls and interviewing the people who took them. Whoever placed the calls could face federal charges.
